Title: If...
Lhiata - May 6, 2006 10:14 PM (GMT)
If Sarah HAD stayed with Jareth, regardless of the Toby situation, do you think that they would have made it? Would they have balanced each other to rematin together without one pretty much killing the other?
? :Sarah/Jareth: ?
Leanne - May 7, 2006 11:32 PM (GMT)
I think they'd have killed each other. Too immature and far too alike. Would have been so pretty though lol :Sarah/Jareth:

I agree. That's why fanfic set when Sarah's had a chance to get a little older and wiser is so cool! The way I see it, Big J was in love with her as a fifteen year old, but I think if she'd really taken his offer it might not have been the fairy tale ending he was hoping for. She needed to grow up, and a few more years perspective on her end would have made her his perfect match!
Also, if she'd stayed she wouldn't have been doing the 'honorable' thing, so he would have been with a girl who is not only immature, but also disloyal to her own family. And I think J deserves better than that. An older, cooler Sarah seems like the best thing for him!

mcfly85 - May 8, 2006 07:32 PM (GMT)
This short story by K.L. Morgan provides a really interesting perspective on this very question:
Galatea(It's for adults).

Hmmmm, just let me do a few calculations....
If every 5 cadbury eggs (CE) appeases 1 muse (M) for 1 minute (N), then in order to write a half way decent smutty bit....
30N x 2M x 5CE = 300 Cadbury Eggs!! I think you're going to need a bigger candy dish!!

I love you ladies!
I had no idea my Muse had left to go get Cadbury Eggs. SO that's where she went, leaving me here to fester and stall and wait for inspiration to strike. Will one of you send her back to me if you see her? I need to give her a talking to.
mcfly85 - May 10, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
It's a deal, hun. :peach: :peach:

Would have been firey; think Burton/Taylor, Cobain/Love - very wild, very furious, very interesting!
Lhiata - May 10, 2006 09:34 PM (GMT)
I thought for a moment that we were still talking about the Cadbury bars.... (which I now NEED to find)
That's a great thought, I mean... Jareth's pent up frustration from years of loneliness... Sarah's naivety... *hehe!*

I had better go to bed soon before I raid my chocolate stash...I do so love Cadbury eggs!!!
Anyway, the first thing that I thought about when I read the thread was one of those arranged marriages back in Italian Renaissance period when the girls would have an arranged marriage; once they hit 12, 13, or 14, they'd be married to a man who was about 15 years older. I guess the similarities here would be that the man was the head of the household; he was older; he made the rules, and the wife had to follow them whether or not she liked it. She really had no choice but to make the best of her situation. I'm guessing it would be the same with Jareth and Sarah, as Jareth is older and the king...and has devices to make Sarah obey him, as well as his magic power. (I'm not really sure the "you have no power over me" would hold if Sarah had stayed.)
But again, there are a lot of "what ifs".

.....shaky at best. They're both really volatle personalities. I think even if they got along most of the time it would always be a fight for who was on top (figuratively and literally). Hard to say, things could get ugly for either or both of them for totally different reasons, magic against her, politics and stigma against him. But it makes for one hell of a soap opera, doesn't it? :Sarah/Jareth:
hurleygirl - March 6, 2007 12:03 AM (GMT)
My mom in law just mailed me a box of 48 cadbury eggs and I don't know what to do with them.
As for Sarah and Jareth... I think it would be an endless battle between the two of them. But then I do think that'd be fun to watch for awhile...
As for arranged marriages... I'm finding those are still really popular out here in Japan to this day.
Jester - May 14, 2007 02:30 AM (GMT)
48 cadbury eggs huh? They would last about 48 secomds in my house. Chocolate has a tendancy to dissappear fast around here.
As for Jareth and Sarah...
I'd have to say that their relationships would probably be filled with highs and lows. I tend to be in favor of an older wiser Sarah...like wine, she'd probably ripen with age. Even so, I can still see theirs to be a tempestuous relationship...but drama & tension makes for good story telling. Happily ever after is overrated and dull in my opinion. Sometimes there's just nothing like a good 'ole Friday night fight. Love is never perfect, and hey, sometimes stuff gets broken.
Here's an example:
  :wtf:  :censored:  :smack: :moon: :Jawdrop:     :good/evil:  :rose:
hurleygirl - May 14, 2007 06:36 AM (GMT)
I still have plenty left then and you're more than welcome to them :D
Jester - May 14, 2007 02:56 PM (GMT)
*Mmmmm* Cadbury eggs...
